natural liver cleansingStudies show that 50 percent of people will have a problem with their liver and not even be aware of it. It is a silent problem until it is in a more critical stage of development. Due to alcohol, toxins, poor eating habits and other factors, our livers will suffer ill effects if we do not take care of it. The signs and symptoms of a liver problem are very noticeable. These symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, a yellowing of the skin and of the eyes, itching, pain in the abdominal region, and/or loss of appetite.

Natural liver cleansing is a wise choice for everyone, not just for people with noticeable liver problems because you may very well have a liver problem and not be aware of it. For a liver cleanse to be done properly you must have an intake of several antioxidants for optimal effectiveness. Some of these antioxidants should include vitamin C, beta carotene, vitamin E, milk thistle, SAM-E (an amino acid that also aids in depression) and NAC, which represents the antioxidant, acetyl-cysteine.

As in most detoxification programs vegetables play an important role. Either the intake of raw vegetables or vegetable juices play a key role in any detoxification program. Another popular form of natural liver cleansing is with the use of coffee, yes coffee. A coffee enema will provide caffeine to be absorbed into the body where it will then flush out the toxins that are dwelling within. The only word of caution here is not to use it in excess and avoid placing the enema bag at too high of a level.

The most popular liver cleansing, however, is the liver flush. When carrying out the liver flush you should drink apple juice prior to starting for approximately 2 days or so. Apple juice contains an ingredient known as malic acid. This acid will help to soften any gallstones and will also help them to dissolve.

Using olive oil (1/2 cup), Epsom salts (4 tablespoons), grapefruits (2 small), and water (three cups), you combine the Epsom salts and water. Do not eat on the day of the cleanse. In the evening, you can drink ¾ of a cup of this mixture. Approximately 2 hours later you may take another serving.  Adding a ½ cup of olive oil and grapefruit to another jar, you may drink this, again approximately 2 hours after the second serving of Epsom salts and water.

Immediately after drinking this you should lie down with your head raised and try to sleep. The next morning the combination of Epsom salts and water should be consumed again. Approximately 2 hours after drinking this third dose, the final dose of Epsom salts and water should be finished. You may lie down after this and when you do arise you can drink some juice. A little while later you can eat raw fruit and then shortly after that a light meal. This combination will precipitate diarrheal stool. You may or may not find any gallstones in the stool.

Although this liver cleanse is said to be perfectly safe, you should check with your doctor before carrying out this or any other type of cleansing procedure.  This should only be done with his or her approval.
