Preventing Acne
Many people want to know if there are ways of preventing acne. Well, if someone has a predisposition to acne, it cannot be totally prevented but it can be controlled somewhat.
Some ways of controlling acne are washing the face with a mild soap, frequently washing your hair, avoiding types of cosmetics that clog the pores and by not picking at the pimples. Contrary to popular belief, eating chocolate or greasy foods does not cause or aggravate acne in any way.
This is assuming of course that you are not otherwise allergic to the type of food because food allergies can play a role in aggravating acne. If you suspect that you are allergic to certain foods, you may want to be tested and try to avoid any foods that you are known to be allergic to.
Some people prone to acne find that it becomes worse when they are under a great deal of stress. Although hormones have been known to create fluctuations in the severity of acne, there still is no conclusive evidence that stress makes acne any more severe or that reducing stress levels can prevent it. Still, it is always a good idea to reduce your anxiety levels, acne or no acne.
Even though there are not really any totally proven scientific methods of preventing acne, common sense tells us that leading a healthy lifestyle is always the best route to take. This includes a healthy diet and also using natural soaps and shampoos that will not irritate the skin and aggravate any predisposition to acne.
